Mt. Funiushan Geopark enters into sisterhood with Portuguese Naturtejo Geopark

On July 18, 2017, Carlos Neto De Carvalho, evaluator for UNESCO Global Geoparks and representative of Naturtejo UNESCO Global Geopark in Portugal, came for a visit at Mt. Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark. During the visit, the two sides shared experience and practices in park management and exchanged ideas on boosting geopark development. Meanwhile, representatives from both sides sealed a sister-park cooperation agreement, officially ushering in their sisterhood. It is agreed by both parties that they will strengthen coordination and cooperation and jointly promote the exchange of staff and expertise in different areas, such as park management and landscape planning, geo-science education and public information sharing, geo conservation, tourism promotion, science popularization, network systems building, et cetera. The two sides pledged to make joint contributions to the development of UNESCO Global Geoparks Network (GGN).
