June 5th is World Environment Day. The theme this year is “Beautiful China, I Take the Lead”. Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark organized a special-themed clean-up campaign, aiming to enhance the public’s environmental protection awareness, foster and promote ecological culture, and help create a better ecological environment. This activity attracted many volunteers and local residents to actively participate in.

Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark organized a cleaning team to come to Panzhuang Community. Volunteers carried out a concentrated cleaning of the rampant small advertisements on the walls and electric poles. Everyone held tools such as shovels and brushes, and patiently and meticulously removed all kinds of small advertisements, making the community walls tidy again. At the same time, volunteers also standardized the parking of electric vehicles in the community, guided residents to park their vehicles in an orderly manner in the designated areas, and publicized to residents the importance of standardized parking, advocating civilized travel and the maintenance of an orderly living environment.

The Baihe River is not only the mother river of Nanyang people, but also has very important ecological value. Volunteers followed the banks of the Baihe River and carefully picked up all kinds of garbage, including food packaging bags, beverage bottles, cigarette butts, and so on. Everyone divided the work and cooperated, not missing any dead corner, and safeguarded the beauty of the Baihe River with practical actions.

This clean-up campaign not only improved the environmental sanitation conditions of Panzhuang Community and the banks of the Baihe River, but more importantly, conveyed to the public the concept that caring for the environment is everyone’s responsibility, and interpreted with practical actions the determination to safeguard the earth’s ecological environment. It has played a good exemplary role in promoting the regional green development. The relevant person in charge of Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark said that in the future, such environmental protection activities will be continuously organized, calling on more people to pay attention to the ecological environment and jointly contribute to building a beautiful homeland.
