On May 12th, the 17th National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day, Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark held a publicity activity with the theme of "Everyone talks about security and can handle Emergencies, identifying Disaster Risks around us" at Nanyang Baihe Urban Wetland Park. At the same time, the Neixiang Area of Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark collaborated with Baotianman Global Biosphere Reserve carried out a National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day themed publicity activity at the Neixiang County Yamun Square. In the events, diverse activities such as science popularization, skills training, and risk identification provided rich knowledge in disaster prevention and mitigation to people and pooled the efforts of the public in disaster prevention and control.

On the day of the activity, numerous eye-catching publicity banners with the theme of disaster prevention and mitigation were hung at Baihe Urban Wetland Park and Neixiang County Yamun Square, attracting lots of citizens. The staff distributed popular science materials such as "Keeping Disasters Away from Funiu Mountain" to citizens. The content covered practical disaster prevention knowledge that may be involved in tours, such landslide relic in Laojieling, debris flow relic tour in Baotianman, flood relic tour in Baotianman, and forest fire relic tour in Baiyun Mountain. At both activities sites, several groups of exhibition boards were set up, vividly presenting the unique geological structure and ecological vulnerability of Funiu Mountain through a combination of text and pictures, calling on the public to pay attention to environmental safety. The staff also helped citizens quickly master the correct way to use fire extinguishers through "one-on-one guidance and personal demonstration", enhancing their emergency response capabilities. After the event, Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark organized special personnel to conduct a comprehensive inspection on evacuation routes, fire-fighting equipment, and electrical safety in the office area, further enhancing the fire safety awareness of the staff.

The National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day is not only an opportunity for warning education but also the starting point for a nationwide campaign. A representative from Baotianman Biosphere Reserve emphasized: "Disaster prevention and mitigation is a crucial part of ecological protection. Through cross-regional cooperation, we not only improve the public's emergency response capabilities but also strengthen the –common risk management mechanism between the reserves and local communities." Through the jointly efforts of Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark and Baotianman Global Biosphere Reserve, the "science popularization + practice" model is being promoted to create a social atmosphere of "everyone is aware of importance of safety and can handle emergencies", injecting sustainable impetus into building a solid ecological security barrier.
