On April 22nd, the 44th "Bird-Loving Week" activity of Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark was launched at Baihe National Wetland Park. With the theme of "Remove Bird Nets, Strengthen Legal Governance, Safeguard Biodiversity • Let Birds Fly Freely", the event aims to build a societal consensus on bird conservation through diverse forms such as science popularization, public welfare initiatives, and wildlife rescue and release, injecting green momentum into regional ecological sustainability.

At the event site, Jia Pengyu, a student representative from Lujiazhuang Primary School in Huangludian Town, read the Initiative for Bird-Loving and Bird-Protecting, calling for public participation in wildlife conservation. Attendees collectively watched the promotional video Protect Wildlife, Safeguard the Beauty of Natural Ecology, sparking public support, understanding, and in-depth reflection on biodiversity conservation.

At the wetland park's release platform, national second-class protected birds such as crested goshawks, peregrine falcons, and common buzzards, after professional rehabilitation, were released from rescue boxes and soared into the sky, triggering bursts of cheers. In the first half of 2025, Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark, together with the Comprehensive Law Enforcement Detachment of Nanyang Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Rural Revitalization Bureau of the Vocational Education Park Area, carried out publicity activities on the fishing ban period in the Lotus Hot Spring area of Nanyang Baihe National Wetland Park. They also comprehensively cleaned up illegal fishing tools in the river, removing more than 40 cage traps totaling nearly 600 meters, thereby strengthening a safety barrier for migratory birds.

Since China initiated the "Bird-Loving Week" in 1981, Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark has continuously organized themed conservation activities. Moving forward, the geopark will continue to adhere to the principles of "protection first, scientific utilization, and popular science sharing", integrating the protection of geological heritage with biodiversity management. These efforts position Funiushan as a showcase of China's ecological conservation achievements, contributing to global biodiversity conservation.
