On April 22nd, the 56th "World Earth Day", the Geopark Conservation and Development Center of Nanyang Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark, together with multiple units including the Science and Technology & External Cooperation Division of Henan Provincial Department of Natural Resources, Henan Institute of Land and Space Survey and Planning, Henan Natural Museum, Henan Polytechnic University, and the People's Government of Xixia County, held the Unveiling Ceremony of the Henan Xixia Dinosaur Egg Fossil Group Field Scientific Observation and Research Station under the Ministry of Natural Resources and the "4·22 World Earth Day" themed publicity event at the entrance of the Xixia Field Station. Focusing on the theme of "Cherish the Earth: Harmonious Coexistence Between Humanity and Nature", the event promoted the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with ecological protection for natural resources.

At the beginning of the event, participants conducted on-site inspections of the field scientific observation and research station to gain an in-depth understanding of its construction and scientific and technological achievements in dinosaur egg fossil monitoring, paleoecological research, and other areas. They watched the science popularization documentary Return to the Cretaceous and reviewed popular science albums and books, systematically interpreting the scientific value of dinosaur egg fossils by audio-visual means, which attracted many people.

The event was chaired by Wang Yong, Director of the Xixia Conservation and Development Center of National Nature Reserve for Nanyang Dinosaur Egg Fossil Group. Zhang Feng, Director of the General Office of the People's Government of Xixia County, and Deng Jiong, President of Henan Institute of Land and Space Survey and Planning, jointly unveiled the field station. As the red curtain was lifted, the plaque of "Henan Xixia Cretaceous Dinosaur Egg Fossil Group Field Scientific Observation and Research Station, Ministry of Natural Resources" was officially revealed, marking the further strengthening of the station's role as a "ministry-province-local" hub for natural resources scientific and technological innovation in Henan Province.

Zhang Shuxian, Director of the Science and Technology & External Cooperation Division of Henan Provincial Department of Natural Resources, stated: "We should take the newly unveiled field observation base as a foundation, fully leverage the advantages of multidisciplinary integration and the leading role of scientific and technological innovation platforms, strengthen the promotion of scientific and technological achievements through science popularization, safeguard lucid waters and lush mountains with technological strength, promote the parallel development of science popularization and technological innovation, and contribute to the construction of a beautiful Henan through high-quality natural resources science popularization, jointly composing a new chapter of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature." She also announced the official launch of the 2025 "4·22 World Earth Day" publicity event week and called on the entire society to participate in earth protection.

A science book donation ceremony was held at the event site. Attending leaders presented popular science books such as Bei Bei Dragon's Wonderful Journey to teachers and student representatives from Danshui Town Central Primary School, aiming to root the concept of "cherishing the earth" in campuses through science education for teenagers.

This event enhanced public enthusiasm for actively participating in the protection of paleontological fossils (such as dinosaur eggs) and the earth's environment, improved the social awareness and influence of the Xixia Field Station, and laid a solid foundation for carrying out in-depth scientific research. All parties will take this event as an opportunity to jointly protect the earth and promote scientific and technological innovation for natural resources and ecological civilization construction.
