On March 20, 2025, the Henan Provincial Forestry Bureau organized and held the mobilization and deployment meeting for the 2026 Revalidation of Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark. Relevant personnel from the Nanyang Funiushan Geopark Conservation and Development Center and each Geopark area attended the meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to comprehensively arrange the preparation work for the revalidation, ensure a smooth pass of the revalidation by UNESCO, and polish the ecological "Gold Signboard" of Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark.

At the meeting, Hai Tao, a third-level researcher in the Conservation Department of the Henan Provincial Forestry Bureau, reported on the revalidation of the three global geoparks in Henan Province in 2024. The management agency of Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark gave a detailed report on the current work progress and the key work plan for the next step. The participants had an in-depth discussion and exchange on the revalidation index system, key tasks, existing problems, and solutions.

Qi Jiannong, the chief engineer of the Henan Provincial Forestry Bureau, put forward clear requirements for the revalidation work: First, raise awareness and attach great importance to it. It is necessary to fully understand the importance of the revalidation work, effectively enhance the sense of responsibility and urgency, and go all out to do a good job in all preparations with higher standards, stricter requirements, and more practical measures. Second, make overall arrangements and establish a special work team. It is necessary to strengthen the organizational leadership of the revalidation work, establish a special work team, clarify the division of responsibilities, and form a joint force to ensure the orderly progress of all work. Third, focus on key points and pay close attention to implementation. It is necessary to compare with the revalidation index system, sort out item by item, find and fill in the gaps, and focus on key tasks such as the protection of geoheritage, science education and publicity, community participation, and infrastructure construction to ensure the implementation of all tasks. Fourth, strengthen communication and seek support. It is necessary to actively communicate and report to superior departments, seek support in terms of policies, funds, and technology, and provide a strong guarantee for the revalidation work.

The Nanyang Funiushan Geopark Conservation and Development Center stated that it would earnestly implement the spirit of the meeting, follow the unified arrangements of the Henan Provincial Forestry Bureau, establish a special work team, refine the work plan, clarify the time nodes, and steadily promote all the preparation work for revalidation to ensure the high-quality completion of the target tasks, lay a solid foundation for successfully passing the UNESCO revalidation in 2026, and fully protect the ecological "Gold Signboard" of Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark.
