On the morning of April 21st, the second site of the “4·22 World Earth Day Publicity Week” of Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark entered Nanyang No.1 Middle School.

Jian Dandan, the master of ecology of Central China Normal University, revealed the survival mystery of earth creatures through the earth history of evolution for 4.6 billion years. She also carried out multi-level and all-round science popularization about geoparks, life evolution and dinosaur egg fossils. More than 100 teachers and students are guided to understand Funiushan UGGp.

Miss. Jian explained the profound geomorphic features, characteristic scenic spots and dinosaur sites of Funiushan UGGp in simple terms, helped students understand the geological causes and geological value of this geopark, and led everyone to establish the ecological and cultural concept of “harmonious coexistence of mankind and nature”. During the interactive Q&A, the lecturer and students not only conducted in-depth discussion on the development history of dinosaurs with the geological age as the time axis, but also talked about the development of their hometown with the theme of “characteristics of the scenic spot of Funiushan UGGp”, in order to strengthen students’ understanding of geology, ecology, culture and other aspects of their hometown. Students have expressed their understanding through learning that they truly found natural environmental resources significant to human survival and the importance of strictly protection and rational use of natural resources. During the activity, the keynote speaker also introduced the follow-up essay competition about “Nanyang dinosaur egg fossil group” to the students in detail, calling on everyone’s active participation and understanding of National Reserve of Nanyang dinosaur egg fossil group and writing about the geoscience landscape and historical details of their hometown in order to make contributions to the science popularization education of Nanyang nature reserve.

Nanyang No.1 Middle School, founded in 1903, is a public middle school in the charge of Nanyang education bureau, famous as the demonstrative ordinary high school in Henan Province and the demonstrative high school at Nanyang municipal level. It is the first batch of comprehensive high schools of innovation in Henan Province, the national advanced collective of education system and the first batch of demonstrative base schools of Sino-Finnish cooperation and innovation in China. The publicity and education meeting of science knowledge popularization went to Nanyang No.1 Middle School to spread the Geoscience Knowledge of Funiushan UGGp, explain the significance and measures of geological heritage protection, strengthen students’ awareness of ecological protection, and make the concept of green development popular.
