Yunyang, Chongqing, China – October 9–15, 2025 – The 9th UNESCO for UNESCO Global Geopark International Training Course was successfully held in Yunyang County, Chongqing. Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark sent representatives to participate in the week-long systematic training and in-depth exchange alongside geopark managers and experts from numerous countries worldwide.

During the training, renowned international experts delivered comprehensive lectures on themes including "Connections among Geological Heritage, Other Natural Heritage, and Cultural Heritage Resources", "Practical Path of Sustainable Development Goals in Construction of Geoparks", and "International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction and Geological Hazard Prevention". The course integrated theory and practice, incorporating typical cases from various global geoparks such as China's Danxiashan, Malaysia's Langkawi, and Japan's Muroto to deeply explore the common challenges and innovative practices faced by geoparks worldwide in their development. A dedicated field excursion was organized, allowing participants to conduct on-site investigations of the Yunyang Longgang Karst landform system and its geopark development. This practical experience deepened their understanding of geological heritage conservation and revitalization utilization within a natural setting.

Participants expressed that the training significantly enhanced the professional capabilities of the Geopark in geological heritage protection, science-education integration, and international communication. The deep exchanges with international peers also provided valuable experience for Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark for upcoming revalidation in 2026 and its long-term development. Moving forward, Funiushan UNESCO Global Geopark will fully leverage the advanced international concepts and practical cases acquired, continue to deepen practical cooperation with domestic and international sister geoparks, and solidify the foundation for a successful UNESCO revaluation in 2026, further advancing the development of its world-class brand.
