From September 14 to 20, Wu Zixian, second-level researcher of Nanyang Municipal Forestry Bureau, led the Funiushan Global Geopark delegation to visit Vietnam and Malaysia to participate in the 8th Asia-Pacific Geopark webinar and exchange cooperation with Langkawi Global Geopark.
The 8th Asia-Pacific Geopark Webinar was held in Kao Binh Province, Vietnam. More than 800 delegates from 19 countries gathered together to discuss the future development direction of global geoparks under the theme of "Local/Indigenous Peoples and sustainable development in Geoparks". Funiushan Global Geopark was invited to participate in the meeting, and made a special report on "Progress and results of UGGp sustainable development work in Funiushan" at the special report meeting, sharing from several aspects such as geological heritage protection, science popularization education, geological tourism and regional sustainable development, which received attention and praise from the participants.
Through analysis, exchange, and field visits by domestic and foreign experts, the conference further learned the latest policy requirements of UNESCO global geoparks, understood the latest construction concepts and creation points of global geoparks, gained rich experience for the construction and inspection work of Funiushan Global Geoparks in the next stage, and broadened the international perspective. It has played a positive role in enhancing the international influence of the park, promoting tourism development and increasing brand promotion.
